Mob Rule: Violent Muslims Attack Speaker, No Charges Filed

Lars Vilks, the Swedish artist whose drawing of the Prophet Muhammad has created such controversy, was physically attacked by offended Muslims while Vilks was giving a lecture at the historic and highly-respected Uppsala University in Stockholm. He never finished his presentation.

And he never will. University officials have caved in to Muslim fanaticism. "It's nothing that we're discussing right now, but it's not very likely given how it turned out here," university spokeswoman Anneli Vaara said.

"How it turned out here" was an ugly and frightening scene that included attacks on Vilks and on the security guards that came to his aid. Vilks escaped with broken glasses and a deep sense of shock and revulsion -- both of which you'll share as you watch this video clip provided by Daniel Foster at NRO's The Corner. (Note: the yells you hear in the background are people shouting "Allah is great" in Arabic.)

The new reports of the incident include some relevant details including the fact that the assailants were all released from custody. Indeed, the primary thug (whose attack was witnessed by a hundred spectartors as well as a video camera) wasn't charged with anything. Also, Helena Benauouda, the head of Sweden's Muslim Council, an umbrella group for Muslim organizations, declined comment on the outrageous attack.

Welcome to the rule of the mob.
