In all of the hoopla over Elizabeth Edwards' new revelations, let's not overlook this salient point:
Elizabeth knew.
Yes, while her husband made those vaunted speeches about his honesty, fidelity, and compassionate character (deriding other candidates for their lack of the same), Elizabeth knew better.
Yet she stood beside the egotistic phony and helped perpetuate a fraud on the American public. She did her best to get John Edwards (the fellow who made her throw up, the fellow who cheated on her and risked the happiness and well-being of his own children, the fellow who she knew shouldn't be running for the presidency) into the Oval Office.
But now the truth is coming out as Elizabeth Edwards bravely tells all.
But remember, of course, these revelations put herself in the starring role as the put-upon heroine with the high ideals.
And these "courageous" revelations come only after her cover was blown.
Her next step? What else? Write a book and go get a hug from Oprah.
Sigh.
It turns out that John isn't the only narcissist in the Edwards home.
