It is a classic case of selling out.
Bob Casey, Jr. (the Democrat Senator from Pennsylvania whose father was a strong defender of the sanctity of human life) has tossed aside his father's example, not to mention the centrality of the culture of life in his Catholic faith, to endorse the radically pro-abortion Barack Obama. And, in trying to somehow excuse his decision, Casey has come up with the most twisted and inane of excuses.
For instance, Casey doesn't "think" his endorsement of Obama is actually a pro-abortion decision, despite Obama's record of supporting abortion across-the-board, including partial-birth abortion and his vociferous opposition to the Born Alive Infants Protection Act.
Said Casey, "Some might characterize it that way, but I don't think it is."
Good grief.
Even more ridiculous, however, is Casey's suggestion that a U.S. President's position on abortion isn't that big a deal anyhow. "I think it's possible in the next term of the president that they will directly or indirectly confront the issue of abortion, but they may not."
But they may not? Has this guy completely lost his mind?
Or is it just his faith, his heart and his father's legacy he's lost.
