Support Cord Blood for Stem Cell Therapy in Nebraska

In October 2006, NCER brought Atlanta-based Dr. Gerry Sotomayor, a career obstetrician and expert on public banking of umbilical cord blood, to Omaha for a presentation to the general public on how simple and beneficial it is to save cord blood for stem cell therapy. This is public banking of cord blood at no cost to the donor family. Dr. Sotomayor calls it a “baby Red Cross.” Now NCER is bringing together Nebraska medical professionals and institutions, as well as political leaders, to develop a plan to promote the banking of cord blood in Nebraska.

Nebraska Coalition for Ethical Research will be hosting a dinner and presentation featuring Dr. Sotomayor on Friday, October 19th. If you are interested, call NCER at 402-690-2299.

Here are a couple sites that can give you more information about the life-saving importance of banking cord blood.
