Jack Niewold, author of Frail Web of Intention and exquisite mini-essays too numerous to count which show up on Facebook, made these cogent observations this morning.
So, the Obama campaign is presenting the Romney trip to England, Israel and Poland as a gaffe-filled disaster. That's not what I and millions of other Americans have seen--those of us who get our news from the free press rather than the statist amen corner led by the choir director New York Times. Romney never looked or sounded better. This kind of distortion and false consciousness is what a campaign that has nothing of its own to cheer about is reduced to.
We talk a lot about disestablishment in this country, by which we mean that we will not tolerate a state-run church. The disestablishment cause for today is to free the country from its state-run media. Beating Obama this fall should be easy. It's beating the New York Times, CNN, MSNBC, the LA Times, the Boston Globe, the Washington Post, CBS, NPR, and ABC that will be the challenge.
