The latest volume of "When Swing Was King" had its debut today at Heritage Pointe assisted living complex. 24 people were there for the presentation and everyone had a fantastic time. There were laughs, interesting conversation, swaying in the seats, tapping of toes, and plenty of singing along.
And yes, because of the sheer beauty of some of the songs and because many of our memories naturally have a bittersweet edge to them, there were a few tears as well. We were (as we always are) deeply moved by the complements, the thank you's, the "please keep coming back" appeals and the stories that the residents tell us -- stories sparked by the big band songs and pictures. What a terrific blessing it is for Claire and me to be involved in this ministry.
