Here's a nice start to your weekend, a clip showing that "flash events" are not just for the young. This one involves over 30 members of the Opera Company of Philadelphia volunteering to to take opera "up close and personal" to a first bewildered, then delighted public gathering at the Italian Festival at Reading Terminal Market.
The music they chose was the brindisi from "La Traviata." A brindisi is common in classical opera, being where one character introduces a toast with a solo melody with the full ensemble joining in the refrain. The one from Verdi's "La Traviata" is the most famous of all. Fun stuff.
