Norm Geisler, Ron Rhodes On the Trinity, Religious Freedom and the Local Church Movement

I know this particular piece will not be everyone's "cup of tea," but I do post this link to a lengthy theological document I found of great interest and worth.

It is "A Response to the Christian Research Journal’s Recent Defense of the 'Local Church' Movement" and it is written by two men I have great respect for, Norm Geisler and Ron Rhodes.

Briefly put, the issues here involve the longstanding heterodoxy of the Local Church Movement (started by Witness Lee), the excoriating criticism which the LCM directs at all other Christian groups, the frequent use of unbiblical litigation the LCM has for eveyone who criticizes them (lawsuits that run into the millions of dollars), and the inexplicable move by Hank Hanegraaff and his Christian Research Institute to suddenly reverse their position and now embrace the LCM as an orthodox Christian group.

In this article, Geisler and Rhodes explain the nature of the present controversy with the CRI as well as discussing several biblical passages relevant to the Trinity. They also refer (and provide links to) the significant court decision which struck down the LCM's nasty lawsuit against John Ankerberg and Harvest House Publishing.

If you're interested in theology, the challenge of the cults, and/or the issue of religious freedom, you may well find this article of great interest.
