America lost one of her brightest, most principled, most caring conservative leaders with the death of Jack Kemp this weekend. I well remember wearing Kemp for President buttons, hearing him speak, and listening to great stories about life at home with the Kemp family when I interviewed his quarterback son, Jeff, for an edition of "Vital Signs Weekend."
Golly, I even remember prizing a Coca Cola bottle cap with Jack Kemp's likeness back in the early 1960s. (He was then a star quarterback with the Buffalo Bills in the old American Football League days.)
Jack Kemp will be missed by many.
Here are a few fine remembrances, all well worth reading:
* "Jack Kemp in His Own Words" in the Wall Street Journal.
* "Farewell to My Friend, Jack Kemp, A Unique Republican" by Cal Thomas at Fox News.
* "Head and Heart: Remembering Jack Kemp" by Michael Gerson in the Washington Post.
* "The Jack Kemp I Knew" by Richard Rahn in the Washington Times.
* "An Appreciation of Jack Kemp" by Gregg Easterbrook at ESPN.
