Yesterday the last of our company left, completing a very busy week. We hosted my older sister and her husband from California as well as my youngest brother and his wife from Colorado here at our house. Crowded but do-able. My younger sister and her husband from Kansas stayed at a nearby hotel. My other younger brother from Florida couldn't make it.
They had all come in to see my Mom and we had a pretty successful time. We rented a wheelchair so the girls could take Mom shopping for clothes; we had dinner out at a couple of Mom's favorite restaurants; and we had a very pleasant picnic at Standing Bear Lake. We also had an elaborate lasagna, salad and antipasto meal here at the house.
We had a lot of memory sharing, a lot of conversation and laughter, and a lot of heartwarming appreciation for what our Mom means to us.
In between family times this week have been studies for the Hands for Life seminars I'm presenting in Portland, Oregon this weekend; preparations for a Mother's Day sermon this Sunday at a church in the Portland area; studies for the next few Sunday sermons here at Faith Bible Church (still in the Book of Acts); blogging; going to the doctor because of leg pain that wouldn't quit; some lawn work (planting will have to wait until next week); writing the outline for May's LifeSharer letter; meeting with our "computer consultant;" and handling correspondence. Whew.
Thursday's plane ride west may actually provide a nice respite.
