General Wesley Clark, a failed candidate in 2004 for the Democratic nomination for the presidency and a loyal (if loopy) friend of the Clintons, has decided that John McCain doesn't have the right kind of military experience to be a good commander-in-chief.
After all, McCain's only qualifications are an education at the United States Naval Academy, service as a fighter pilot with twenty-three bombing missions over North Vietnam, 5 years of withstanding repeated trials and torture as a prisoner of war, serving in the Senate for more than 20 years (preceded by two terms as a Congressman), and serving throughout his Senate tenure on the Senate Armed Services Committee.
No, not the right stuff at all.
But Hillary Clinton? That's Clark's choice because she's been in the Senate for 7 years and -- get this, folks -- the lady has traveled to 80 (count 'em, 80) foreign countries!
Says Clark, "If you look at what Hillary Clinton has done during her time as the First Lady of the United States, her travel to 80 countries, her representing the U.S. abroad, plus her years in the Senate, I think she's the most experienced and capable person in the race, not only for representing America abroad, but for dealing with the tough issues of national security."
As Mark Twain once wrote: "The trouble ain't that there is too many fools, but that the lightning ain't distributed right."
