Whether it's because of his profanity in the pulpit, his politicizing, his racism, his disdain for America, his harsh criticism of Israel, his strangely heterodox theological opinions, or any of several other highly controversial items, Rev. Jeremiah Wright is finally beginning to draw some attention.
And not just to him but to his most famous parishioner, Barack Obama.
Indeed, Wright (Obama's pastor for 20 years) has been described by Obama as his "sounding board", a "moral compass", a "mentor", and his "spiritual inspiration." It is Wright's church that has been given the most of Obama's charitable donations. It was Wright who performed Obama's marriage and baptized his two daughters.
So, it really is a fair and important question to ask -- How can such wild and unpopular positions as those boldly espoused by a politician's close friend, mentor and spiritual inspiration not be of crucial relevance when evaluating the character and opinions of said politician?
Here's more. And here.
