After meeting with Belarusian Prime Minister Syarhey Sidorski in Minsk on October 23, Matthias Platzeck (photo at left), the minister-president of the eastern German state of Brandenburg, concluded that Belarus was hauntingly similar to East Germany under Soviet Communist domination.
"Nothing is prohibited, but everything is made impossible. So we knew that sort of thing too."
