Here's a quick review of yesterday's Senate action approving a bill (63-34) that would force taxpayers to pay for embryonic stem cell research even though such "research" involves the destruction of human life. However, the vote fell short of the 67 needed to override a presidential veto.
And a veto is expected.
Says President Bush, "Destroying nascent human life for research raises serious ethical problems, and millions of Americans consider the practice immoral." His statement also explained that the bill "would use Federal taxpayer dollars to support and encourage the destruction of human life for research."
Please contact your Senators and Congressmen and let them know your disgust over this bill. Also, a call, letter or e-mail to President Bush is in order, letting him know that you stand behind him in trying to preserve our nation's historic respect for the sanctity of human life.
