Big Labor's Demise Greatly Exaggerated

Indeed, the "old guard" labor unions have seen their day (40% of the work force in the 1950's compared to less than 8% today) and, on the surface, that looks like bad news for Democrats. However, the comparitively tame liberalism of union leadership in their heyday has morphed into a more sinister and passionate socialism and the bodies it now occupies (government unions) pose a much greater threat to freedom.
