American Girl Dolls Helping Fund Abortion?

A "heads up" sent over from the Scheidlers concerns an alarming connection between the mega-popular American Girl Dolls and the pro-abortion organization, Girls Incorporated.

It seems last month the American Girl Doll company initiated a campaign involving a special pledge and the purchase of a $1 bracelet. However, 70 cents from each sale is being donated to Girls Inc. along with a bonus $50,000 donation from the American Girl Doll company to the organization.

But hold on a second -- Girls Inc. is no innocent, wholesome agency. Take a look at some of the anti-life, anti-family elements of its' purpose statement:

* "Girls Incorporated supports a woman's freedom of choice, a constitutional right established by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1973 in Roe vs. Wade."

* "To make responsible decisions about sexuality, pregnancy and parenthood, girls need and have a right to sensitive, truthful sexuality education; convenient access to safe, effective methods of contraception and protection from disease; and referral to comprehensive information, counseling, clinical and other services that support their responsible decisions."

* "Girls have a right to positive, supportive environments and linkages to community resources for dealing with issues of sexual orientation."

* In addition, Girls Inc.'s list of "Sexuality Resources for Girls" includes books promoting premarital sex, birth control, contraception and abortion. And while Girls Inc. says they promote abstinence, their program for pregnancy prevention depends on providing birth control, and Girls Inc. opposed additional funding for abstinence education in the U.S. Senate.

The Pro-Life Action League is urging parents and other responsible Americans to contact American Girl to object to the company's support for Girls Inc.

Here's mine.

Dear Ms.Brothers,

I was truly grieved to hear about the connection between American Girl and Girls Inc., an organization whose feminist policies supporting abortion, indiscriminate sex education, and the confusion of sexual "orientation" certainly clash with the convictions of most of your customers. Until the American Girl Doll company completely severs its links to Girls, Incorporated, I will be among those urging my friends to shop elsewhere for their daughters' and granddaughters' Christmas presents. Please reconsider your poor decision. Thank you for your time.

Joe Scheidler and his devoted team are hoping (and praying) that American Girl will quickly sever ties with Girls Inc. before the League calls for a boycott of American Girl products and launches a picketing campaign at the American Girl Place retail stores in Chicago and New York.
