Good News -- Pepsi Stops Exploiting Fetal Remains

“We are grateful to PepsiCo and especially to all those who sent a loud and clear message to the management of this company. It’s incumbent upon us to closely monitor the situation to be sure that PepsiCo remains true to their word. There are moral cell lines Senomyx can and should be using — not just for PepsiCo research but for all their customers.”(Brad Mattes, Executive Director of Life Issues Institute)

Here's more on the story.

And, in the same way that we urged you to boycott Pepsi products in the past and to let them know of your displeasure at their immoral behavior (Pepsi No More and SEC Defends Pepsi's Use of Fetal Cell Research as "Ordinary Business,"), a follow up note thanking PepsiCo for this reversal is in order.

Here's what I wrote and sent (via this form)

Dear Pepsi-Co,

Well, it took a lot longer than it should have for your company to realize what Mr. Boykas, has now admitted; namely, that PepsiCo has "recognized that the use of aborted babies was highly sensitive and controversial, and not in the best interests of PepsiCo."

I was one of the many who wrote you with my complaints, who refused Pepsi products, and who stopped frequenting restaurants that served Pepsi products (and, yes, I let them know why). Therefore, I wanted to write and let you know how pleased and grateful I am with your decision.

Thank you.
