But Megan Fox, bless her heart, wears no such sack. Writes Megan:
I was going to mention this last night but I thought it would be rude. When Obama made everyone all emotional by saying that Gabrielle Giffords opened her eyes for the first time right after he graced her with his presence, my BS detector started wailing. But I gave the guy the benefit of the doubt. Her husband was sitting right there. Would he lie like that in front of her husband? Who would do that?
But here we have a report from Sunday (3 days before Obama’s claim) that Giffords was opening her eyes and responding. (Update: the site keeps going down so here’s the quote in case they scrub it entirely.) "Giffords is in a drug-induced coma in intensive care. Doctors frequently awaken her to check her responsiveness, and she could open her eyes and respond to simple commands Sunday – an encouraging sign, said Rhee said."
Why do politicians tell these little lies that are so easily proven false? Remember when Al Gore said his mother used to sing him the “Look for the Union Label” song in his crib? Problem was that song wasn’t written until he was 27. Crazy, right?
Why do they do it? They get caught and embarrassed every time. Is it worth it for the momentary emotional connection they get with the crowd to whom they are lying? Is it worth the ridicule the following day? Obama’s lie about Giffords is shameful. There was no need for it. It simply proves he will say or do anything to twist this sad event into a victory for himself.
Disgusting.
