After blogging yesterday, we presented the Christmas version of 'When Swing Was King" at one of our favorite facilities. It was the first time we experienced serious technical difficulties but we finally figured things out. There were close to 25 people shoved into the room but they stayed with us -- conversing, laughing, singing along, applauding, maybe even a tear or two. We had a very sweet time afterward also. Though we have only been to this particular facility twice, we've begun some firm friendships.
This "When Swing Was King" outreach has been a most wonderful blessing to many, including us! Thank You, Lord.
I then headed over to spend some time with Mom. She hasn't been doing well the last few days but I managed to perk her up enough to get out of bed, sit up in her chair, and listen awhile to her oldest son tell a few stories. My little sister Sherry called during this time too so Mom was able to talk to her a bit. That always cheers her up. When I left, Mom was ready for dinner and feeling more chipper than she has for awhile. Again, Lord Jesus, this was a gift from You.
I got home just in time to open the door for our dinner guests of the evening, Jonathan and Alicia Kayser. Claire served up her unique beef and sausage lasagna, salad, and Italian bread plus spumoni ice cream for dessert later. We enjoyed the stimulating, encouraging fellowship with the Kaysers very much. They are a delightful couple who love each other, love God and love their baby who will make his/her public debut in February. For principled young friends like these guys, we yet again thank You, Lord.
Chalk up one more terrific day in what has already been a momentous Christmas season.
