Here's a web site which helps "bring home" the significance and alarming extent of the BP oil spill by visually overlaying the spill area onto a grid featuring your home town.
You've got to check it out.
The spill image uses the daily updated data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration which uses satellite imagery and reports by trained observers who have made helicopter flights back and forth across the potentially affected areas.
Note too the deeply disturbing gauge located just under the map. It continually updates the numbers of barrels of oil that are pouring into the Gulf.
