"President Lech Kaczynski Was One of the Strongest Pro-Family Leaders in Europe"

In mourning the deaths of Poland's President Lech Kaczynski and so many other leading citizens of that great country in last weekend's airline crash, I remembered the warm welcoming letter from Kaczynski which was read at the opening ceremony of the World Congress of Families in Warsaw in May of 2007.

Claire and I were in attendance at that momentous Congress and we were inspired as we learned more about Kaczynski's character and skill. He was a champion of Christian values who created a tremendous momentum throughout his country and then Europe for a staunch defense of the sanctity of life, marriage, family life and freedom.

I was reminded of that impressive record when I saw this brief report this morning from LifeNews.com. In it were quoted World Congress of Families director Larry Jacobs and Concerned Women for America's Janice Shaw Crouse.

Said Jacobs, "President Kaczynski was one of the strongest pro- family leaders in Europe. Despite intense pressure from the European Union, he stood firm for the right to life. Lech Kaczynski was a faithful servant of the Polish nation, a good friend of the World Congress of Families and a champion of the natural family. We join the people of Poland in mourning his passing."

Crouse agrees. "President Kaczynski was an outstanding leader for pro-life, pro- marriage, and pro-family issues in Europe. He stood strong for Judeo-Christian values in the face of intense opposition from European Union leaders. We at CWA join people around the globe in mourning the loss of this friend of life and leader in the effort to strengthen the family."
