On a rainy Wednesday with bad news all around, here's a couple of somethings to maybe lighten the load. So, brew up a cup and enjoy these video clips.
First, here's the Philadelphia Phillies' Jayson Werth in a remarkable display of base thievery in his team's Tuesday night 5-3 win over the Dodgers.
Next, take a look at probably the most magnificent shadow puppets you've ever seen.
And finally, here from a Johnny Carson show back in 1985 is a blistering rendition of "Well Git It!" by Buddy Rich, Doc Severinsen and the Tonight Show Orchestra. The Sy Oliver song was originally recorded by the Tommy Dorsey band back in 1943 with Gene Krupa on drums. But Rich was also with TD then and played the song often himself.
In this take, Rich (already 68 and only a year and a half away from his death) shows the skills and energy that caused Krupa to say of him, "He was the greatest drummer to ever draw breath."
