Dissin' the Tea Parties

* Brian Schatz, chairman of the Hawaii Democratic Party -- "The Republicans are going to have to do more than their standard rhetoric about taxes in order to be successful. They need some new ideas. It's a tired old line of attack."

* ACORN spokesman Brian Kettenring -- "This is the first we've heard of these so-called 'tea parties.' And, frankly, a bunch of small get-togethers by fringe conservative activists dedicated to simply saying 'no' is of little interest to us."

* CNN correspondent Susan Roesgen -- "I think you get the general tenor of this. It's anti-government, anti-CNN since this is highly promoted by the right-wing conservative network Fox."

* Barack Obama -- "I know that April 15 isn't exactly everyone's favorite date on the calendar. But it is an important opportunity for those of us in Washington to consider our responsibility to the people who sent us here and who pay the bills."
