We sure hope you'll join Claire and I (and a few thousand of Nebraska's best citizens) at the 35th annual Nebraska Walk for Life sponsored by Nebraska Right to Life. It will be held Saturday morning, January 31st starting at 10 on the west side of the State Capitol down in Lincoln.
At the conclusion of the eight block march through downtown Lincoln (peaceful, prayerful, completely safe and legally sanctioned), the marchers have the opportunity to gather inside the warm UNL Student Union at 14th & R (2nd floor) to visit various pro-life booths (including Vital Signs Ministries'), buy something sweet from the little bake sale, and to hear this year's exciting keynote speaker, Michael Clancy, of Nashville.
Michael Clancy is the photographer who took the famous photos (one is shown above left) of preborn baby Samuel Armas as he poked his hand out of his mother's womb during fetal surgery. Taking that photo changed Clancy's life.
And hearing his story may just change yours too.
Julie Schmit-Albin, the Director of Nebraska Right to Life, reminds us that the Lincoln Walk for Life has long been the largest First Amendment demonstration in the State. But it expresses not only our opposition to legalized abortion, but also our re-dedication to pray, sacrifice and work for the protection (in law and social practice) of everyone's right to life. Julie also emphasizes that the event is very family-oriented.
So bundle up and get to Lincoln for what I know you will find an inspiring morning. For more information on the Walk for Life, call Nebraska Right to Life at 402-438-4802. But call us if you'd like to be a part of our Omaha contingent.
And yes, the photo here at right shows a later photo of Samuel Armas. He's shown holding his baby brother, Zach. Again, the whole story will be told at the Walk. Come be a part.
