Sure, there's remarkable leftist bias in MSM organs like Reuters news service. Still, I still find myself shaking my head over such inane slants as the one penned by reporter Mark Felsenthal today. Here's his lead paragraph:
President Barack Obama's nominee for Treasury secretary, Timothy Geithner, though tarnished by disclosures of his failure to pay taxes, is likely too uniquely qualified for Congress to reject amid hopes to contain the worst economic downturn in decades.
Is Geithner's deciding to pay almost $43,000 in back taxes and penalties only after deciding he wanted to play in the new administration's sandbox that makes him "too uniquely qualified"? Of course not. It's his commitment to and experience with Obama's bailout philosophy; that is, confiscating the money of hardworking, responsible Americans to pay the bills of deadbeats, slackers and failed businesses.
I'm afraid that fairer commentary on this matter can be found, not by Reuters, but by late night comics.
