Where's the "Rest of the Story" on Nebraska Planned Parenthood?

Why on earth would trial attorneys agree to dismiss botched abortion charges against the very person who perpetrated the deed? And what does this serious malpractice suit against Planned Parenthhood have to do with PP's stopping its very lucrative surgical abortion business for the past several weeks? Inquiring minds want to know -- but apparantly none of those minds are in the newsrooms of the Omaha World Herald, the Lincoln Journal Star, or any of the local TV stations.

Below is the strangely cursory story from the LJS. The others haven't even smelled the story yet.

Attorneys on both sides of a lawsuit filed over what was alleged to have been a botched abortion filed a document Thursday agreeing to dismiss the doctor as a defendant.
Attorney Joel Nelson signed on behalf of Jefferson Downing, who filed the lawsuit on behalf of a 40-year-old Nebraska woman, who was not named. James Snowden signed for the defense. According to court records, the parties both were asking the judge to dismiss the case against Dr. Meryl Severson in a way that bars it from being filed again.

The case would remain open against Planned Parenthood.

The woman, who is not named in the lawsuit, said she was given an emergency hysterectomy because of a botched abortion at the Lincoln clinic Aug. 16. The lawsuit alleges she asked the doctor to stop at one point, but that the doctor said they couldn’t stop.
The woman lost four liters of blood — the equivalent of 80 percent of the average woman’s blood volume, according to the lawsuit — and the procedure caused her excruciating pain. Downing said his client felt violated by the treatment she received.

Of course, Planned Parenthood does remain open for business. They have suspended surgical abortions for a brief time only and promise that they will be "terminating pregnancies" very soon. Other Planned Parenthood services continue including the distribution of bad condoms, bad advice, and abortifacient drugs they mis-characterize as mere "birth control."

But why suspend the surgical abortions? Why the dismissal of charges against Meryl Severson ? Why hasn't Planned Parenthood fired the guy? Why all the secrecy and coverup?

Julie Schmit-Albin from Nebraska Right to Life has been asking local journalists to chase down the rest of this important story and she suggests it would be a good idea for you to do the same.
