And now that that the Navy has accomplished this remarkable mission, where's the media's thrill over the amazing technology involved? Where's the delight at its environmental-friendly results? Where's the pride in the American military's skill, determination, knowledge and independence?
Well, you won't see much of those things in this A.P. story, but I hope that the simple fact that the Navy was undeterred by the flak coming from her enemies (both foreign and domestic) and went ahead to shoot a bulls-eye 130 miles above the Pacific will put a little extra spring in your step today.
By the way, the accompanying photo shows the Lake Erie, the foremost warship on the right. It was the crew of the Lake Erie that accomplished the mission. Good shooting, sailors!
