Nebraska Judiciary Committee To Hear Cloning Ban Testimony

Greg Schleppenbach, the Director of the Bishops' Pastoral Plan for Pro Life Activities of the Nebraska Catholic Conference, sent along this announcement:

This Friday, the Legislature’s Judiciary Committee will conduct an interim study hearing on cloning and its relation to stem cell research. The study was prompted by LB 700, the bill that would ban the cloning of human embryos.

The pro-life side will be ably represented by Dr. Maureen Condic, [shown at right] Associate Professor of neurobiology and anatomy at the University of Utah, Dr. John Safranek and Dr. Lou Safranek. This hearing will be held in Room 1524 in the State Capitol Building in Lincoln beginning at 9:00 a.m. and is open to the public.

The night before this hearing (Thursday, November 8) this pro-life panel will present their testimony for the media and general public at the Thompson Alumni Center on the UNO campus in Omaha (67th and Dodge). A dessert reception begins at 6:30 pm with the presentation following at 7:00 pm. This event is free and open to the public.
