Aping Culture vs Changing It

American Christians, sad to say, are in fact aping culture more than they are changing it. Thus the exhortations of Scripture, Romans 12:1 and 2, for instance, are more timely and critical than ever. “Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”

The Christian who thinks that he must be like culture in order to positively influence culture is sadly ignorant of history, the true substance of conversion, and the clear teaching of the Bible.

Are you aping culture, or are you seeking through prayer, discernment, and a counter-culture lifestyle to change it? That’s the question for today.
