"Mommy, My Teacher Insists You Give Her More Money."

How about that -- it turns out that there's yet another reason to get your kids out of the government schools.

No, it's not the lousy educational performance, the leftist indoctrination, the problems of peer pressure and bullying, the "safe sex" classes, the socialist bent of the NAE, the over-emphasis on sports and other extracurricular stuff, the grade inflation, the hostility to Christianity, the denial of free speech, the hours on the bus, or any of the other outrageous scandals that have marked "public education" for several years.

No, the newest reason to get your kids out of the government schools (as if the others weren't plenty!) is the coercive action to get you and your kids to directly fork over the cash to offset budget cuts.

That's right, all those taxes that you're paying just aren't enough. So now little Suzie is being told by her teacher to go get more money out of her folks so that her school can survive and her teachers continue in the lifestyle to which they've become accustomed.

Sound like a joke?

It isn't.

Check out the story from Mark Hemingway's column in the Washington Examiner, "Good News: Teachers Unions Shaking Down Kids to Pay Their Exorbitant Salaries."
