New M.I.T. Study Advances Adult Stem Cell Treatments

Linda Griffith is an award-winning Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Biological Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is also the Director of M.I.T.'s Biotechnology Process Engineering Center.

Dr. Griffith is also the senior author of a recent study detailing a technique to encourage the survival and growth of adult stem cells, a step that could help realize the therapeutic potential of such cells even when grown outside of the body.

Adult stem cells, as we have reported frequently here on Vital Signs Blog, hold great promise for treatment of injuries and some diseases and, in fact, are already in use for the successful treatment of at least 70 different conditions.

Here's the story from Medical News Today about the M.I.T. study.
