In the big picture of pork-barrel politics, the decision to forego the now-infamous Alaskan "Bridges to Nowhere" isn't much. Or is it? After all, recalling the observation of one old wag, $229 million here and $223 million there -- pretty soon, you're talking some real money!
And secondly, maybe the wake up call is beginning to be heard by taxpayers who are tired of paying up and shutting up. Let's hope.
